Toxicology

Our toxicology rotation encompasses the depth and breadth of acute toxic exposures commonly encountered in the practice of emergency medicine. Our Fellowship trained Medical Toxicology faculty also will review important aspects the approach to and management of less common toxicants, envenomations, occupational and industrial toxins, and environmental poisons.

Residents receive didactic instruction, participate in case based learnings with other residents and toxicology fellows virtually via poison center rounds and on national case review and journal clubs, and engage in Tox-based SIM.

We are growing our inpatient toxicology consultation service and residents will take call and care for poisoned patients at the bedside in the ED and on the inpatient medicine units and in the ICU.

The toxicology core rotation is completed by all EM PGY2 residents;

An Elective in toxicology is available for medical students, PGY3 EM residents, and other specialty residents (IM, FM, TY, etc); additional sub-elective focus in addiction medicine is also available.
